Plastic Free July: Easy Ways to Reduce Plastic

Plastic-Free-July--2

Plastic Free July is back — and it's the perfect opportunity for Irish households and businesses to cut back on single-use plastic. At Oxigen.ie, we're proud to support this global challenge and help our customers take simple steps toward a cleaner, greener future.

What Is Plastic Free July?

Plastic Free July is a worldwide movement that helps people reduce plastic waste throughout the month of July. Founded in 2011, it now includes over 100 million participants in 190+ countries — including thousands here in Ireland. The goal is to reduce single-use plastic at home, at work, and in your community.

Why It Matters in Ireland

Here in Ireland, we generate over 1 million tonnes of plastic waste each year. Much of that ends up in landfills or leaks into the environment. Even with growing awareness, less than 10% of plastic gets recycled globally.

Every small action, like using a reusable bottle or refusing a plastic bag, helps reduce this impact and creates lasting change.

This July, Oxigen is encouraging you to join the challenge. Here's how you can start:

2. Reduce Plastic in the Kitchen
